At about 5 o'clock, Mario the owner arrives and holds forth on agriculture, sport, rarely politics, from his favoured seat at the corner of the pool
Our favourite apartment is la Quercia; it's up two flights of stone steps on which our secretary nearly came to grief. At the top outside the apartment is a paved area with a lovely view where I like to have a cold birra Moretti before we go onto Cortona for an evening meal.
We like Trattoria la Grotta and Osteria del Teatro (right),very friendly service in both. The tortelloni verdi in crema di tartufo and the pecorino cheeses with honey are wonderful
