In Cortona, there is a programme of classical music concerts and recitals at the Teatro Signorelli
We like to go to some of these, not least because of the design of the theatre. As can be seen from the picture below, it resembles many theatres of the C18 and early C19 centuries in that, apart from the stalls, the seating consists of layers of boxes (palchi in Italian) which sweep right round the periphery of the stalls from one side of the stage to the other. When the gathering audience are allowed beyond the foyer, there is always a scrimmage to get a palco!
