The beautiful town of Pienza was once the old Tuscan hill-top village of  Corsignano. It was the birthplace of  Aeneas Sylvius Piccolomini, who became Pope Pius II in the 15th century. He had it rebuilt as an ideal Renaissance town and named after himself.There are great views from the walls.
